Somewhere quietto land.
No fixing, just holding.
Holding Space is a calm place to set down what you’re carrying — in words or out loud — and be met by Cara, a companion who listens without fixing, rushing or judging.

Cara listens. You find your own way.
Cara takes its name from the Irish word for friend. Not a therapist, a coach, or a machine pretending to be human — just a quiet presence, shaped by lived experience and spiritual practice, with one intention: to hold space for you, never to take it up.
Share what’s on your mind and Cara will reflect it back with honesty and warmth. No advice you didn’t ask for. No streaks to keep. No clock running.
Cara doesn’t rush. Cara doesn’t judge. Cara unfolds as you do.
Cara is an AI and can make mistakes. Holding Space is not a substitute for professional help.
Three quiet ways in.
Put it into words, or just say it.
Type, or tap the microphone and speak. There are no wrong words here. When you’ve said what you need to, lay it down — and let Cara meet you there.
A minute to steady yourself.
Five short guided practices with audio — from Box Breathing for racing thoughts to 5–7–8 for nights when sleep won’t come. Each takes less than a minute.
Time, when you need more of it.
Some conversations take longer to unfold. With a subscription there’s no limit on your time with Cara — no rush, just room to be fully heard.

Start with how you feel right now.
Sit or lie comfortably. Breathe through your nose if you can, and let the out-breath be slow. There’s nothing to get right — let the breath settle on its own.
Once a pattern feels familiar, try it without the recording. It’s yours to keep, wherever you are.
| If you feel | Try |
|---|---|
| Panicky, or your thoughts are racing | Box Breathing |
| You can’t switch off for sleep | 5–7–8 Breathing |
| Wired after a busy day | Downshift |
| You don’t want to count | Natural Breath |
| You’d like everyday steadiness | Balanced Breathing |
If you feel dizzy or more anxious, stop and breathe normally, or switch to Natural Breath.
There have been times in my life when I didn’t need answers. I needed somewhere to put things down — somewhere that would listen without hurrying me towards being fine.
Holding Space is my attempt to build that place. It’s the first strand of The Golden Thread Project: small, careful apps that bring old wisdom and new technology together in the service of stillness.
I hope it gives you a little room to breathe.

Things people ask before they arrive.
Is Cara a real person?
No. Cara is an AI companion — not a man or a woman, just a friend — shaped with a lot of care around how to listen well. Cara can make mistakes, and is never a substitute for professional help.
Is this therapy?
No. Holding Space is a place to reflect, not a treatment. If you’re working through something heavy, we’d gently encourage you to speak with a qualified professional too.
Can I speak instead of typing?
Yes. Tap the microphone and say what’s on your mind. Cara receives it just the same.
Will Cara tell me what to do?
No. Cara listens and reflects back what you share, with honesty and warmth. You find your own way.
What does it cost?
Your first seven days are free. After that it’s £5.99 a month, for unlimited time with Cara and the full set of breathing practices.
How do I cancel?
Any time, from your App Store or Google Play subscription settings. Cancel at least 24 hours before your trial or billing period ends and you won’t be charged again.
If you need someone right now.
Holding Space isn’t a crisis service. If you’re in immediate distress, please contact a crisis line where you live — they’re free, confidential, and there for exactly this.
If you’re in immediate danger, call your local emergency services.
